Alight ~ 28"x48" ~ Trailside Solo Exhibition
- Unit Price
Alight was painted at a time when the forests around my former home in Australia were burning. The delicate pink feathers and outstretched wings were already complete, but I had not decided what setting this beautiful bird should be in. With my beloved trees alight and so many species fleeing from their homes, I alighted on the idea to leave her floating above an indistinct landscape with nowhere to alight. (Isn’t the English language wonderful with three such different meanings for the same word?) This painting was featured in the most prestigious exhibition of bird art in the world, Birds In Art at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Wisconsin, and toured museums in the United States for a year. It has special meaning for me, and I have kept it in my personal collection until now.
Painted in oils on canvas mounted on panel.
