Mysterious standing stones, placed long ago to mark an energy point on the Earth's surface, stand strong and guide us to enlightenment. I have sat inside many stone circles, feeling the energy flow and connecting to the ancient people who created them. 
In my interpretation, layers of tone and texture drift from solid form to insubstantial air, while the base stones are firmly grounded.

Oil paint and cold wax on 1 5/8" cradled birch panel. Sides are painted a matching soft gray.
