SOLD Exploring the river banks at low tide with my grandmother, I was always fascinated by the patterns the tiny sand crabs made. Scuttling in and out of their holes to feed, they left little balls of sand behind in star patterns. Combined with my love of beading, this panel incorporates the tracks of the crab in gold, with Baroque cultured pearls representing the balls of sand. The pearls are sewn to painted Belgian linen, which is attached to a gold-painted panel with gold tacks in the corners.
Oil paint, Baroque cultured pearls, fishing line, gold tacks, and Belgian linen on 1 5/8" cradled birch panel. Sides of panel are painted gold.

Unframed cradled panel, ready to hang.
