Ten small birds fly homeward above a quiet evening landscape. Hushed tones meld together as twilight approaches through the last golden light. It is a memory of a moment in a place unknown, an atmosphere felt rather than seen.
Many layers of oil and cold wax began as something entirely different. Traces of those first thoughts still echo through the subsequent textured layers. Sometimes the right painting evolves as I work through the creative process.
