My wildlife portraits begin the way most good stories do — with me going on adventures into the wild. I’ve been to mountain tops and river valleys. I’ve frozen north of the Arctic Circle and sweltered in the desert. I've spent years seeking close encounters with wildlife and waiting for the moment they do something captivating: the tilt of a head, the wariness or curiosity in an eye, the quiet majesty of a creature in its own world. I paint them as portraits - no landscape, just the animal itself against an abstract field of color, so nothing stands between you and what I saw. Every painting here is one of those wanderings, brought home to live with you.
