A trio of black and white butterflies against pale blue and white stripes make a bold graphic statement. Although inspired by real swallowtail butterfly species, I took some artistic license as I painted these beauties with a palette knife at much larger than life size.

Painted in oils on 1 5/8" cradled birch panel. Sides are painted white.
