Curious Companion is inspired by my fascination with the intelligence of animals. Red foxes are often portrayed as elusive or cunning, yet when observed closely, they reveal a remarkable alertness and sensitivity to the world around them. I aimed to create a moment of quiet connection with this beautiful creature, using the slight tilt of the head, the attentive gaze and the sense that the fox is studying us as carefully as we study it. By focusing on expression rather than setting, the portrait is about this individual and his curiosity, inviting you to pause and engage with a fellow sentient being.
