Leaping Buffalo ~ 36"x36" ~ A West Of Her Own

A Blackfoot man looks back at us over his shield. Surrounded by eagle feathers and blue wool cloth, his shield is painted with a buffalo leaping over water, with rain falling from the sky above. Split buffalo horns adorn his ermine headdress with a trailer of eagle feathers. Beads, brass bells, wool cloth and a hint of printed calico fabric tell the story of trade between the Blackfoot people and early fur trappers.

36" x 36" Oil on linen panel, Champagne silver frame.

To be exhibited in A West Of Her Own at the Museum of Western Art in Kerrville, Texas, January 16 to April 17, 2027. This painting can be purchased through the Museum of Western Art.
