Leaping Buffalo 36"x36"

A Blackfoot man looks back at us over his shield. Surrounded by eagle feathers and blue wool cloth, his shield is painted with a buffalo leaping over water, with rain falling from the sky above. Split buffalo horns adorn his ermine headdress with a trailer of eagle feathers.

Brass bells, glass beads, wool cloth, and a glimpse of printed calico lining the headdress trailer indicate a time when the Blackfeet traded with fur trappers and explorers.
