The colors and designs on the wings of butterflies are nature's abstract paintings. These butterflies often appear to be mostly a dark purplish-blue, but catch them in just the right light and their full array of colors appear in a stunning display of creative beauty. Butterflies have been a recurring theme in my paintings since I painted some on a huge scale in high school. These are smaller but still much larger than life size, and just as much fun to paint.
Painted in oils on Belgian linen mounted on panel.
