The Snow Moon is the full moon in February, when the snow is usually the deepest. This year the sky was clear and cold, and I watched the huge moon rise over the snow-covered landscape. I've always looked at the moon like a friend in the night sky, lighting my way and watching over me. The idea of painting a portrait of my silent friend "someday" finally became a reality in this painting. 

Oil on 2" cradled birch panel. Sides painted indigo to match background.
