Mountain lions are very good at remaining unseen by humans. In my few wild encounters, they were very close and once I could hear him clearly just a few feet away, but they always stayed hidden from me. Trail cameras and later evidence showed me just how close they were. I painted this one looking directly at you so you know you are not unseen.
